I've said it before as nearly a footnote, but the many, many posts Kim has been compiling of her education on the workings of New Orleans' criminal justice system have been excellent reading and instructive to all. Go back through her archives about a month or so and see what I mean. Really. Do it now.

Because many in the justice system down here are really paying for everybody's ignorance. Out of sight, out of mind. Ultimately, the act of giving people a fair trial, something most of us take for granted, shouldn't be this way.
